Our new friends Merv and Elaine (from Saskatchewan) drove us to the Phoenix Airport on Sunday Dec.18th for the 3 hour flight to Calgary. After our arrival in Calgary we visited Derek and Carol and family. The boys were in bed.
Derek,Carol,Liam and Emmett came over for dinner on Monday. Liam has gotten quite tall and seems so grown up. Emmett is saying lots of words and is a happy little guy. Our daughter Karilee flew in from Vancouver Tuesday morning. The three of us babysat the boys Wednesday evening.Derek and Carol went to dinner and prepared their tribute to Annika.
Thursday December 22nd was a difficult day. Annika's memorial service was at 3pm with about 300 people to support our family. The photo tribute (with music)of Annika's life was beautiful.Derek and Carol gave a loving and touching tribute of Annika's journey through her short life.Their strength, love, and care make us so proud of them. They are exceptional people.
After the service a reception was held with a bouncy castle for the children.Afterwards the family went to dinner at a resturant.
On Christmas Eve we went out with friends for Chinese food. Karilee,Ralph and I went to a movie Christmas Day. Jean and Graham invited us for Christmas dinner.
Boxing Day we opened gifts with Karilee,Derek,Carol,Liam and Emmett. We had roast turkey and lobster for dinner. Liam stayed over for a sleepover. Karilee flew back to Vancouver on the 27th. Ralph,Derek and Liam went to the World Juniors Hockey game between Sweden and Switzerland on Wednesday.
Both Ralph and I started getting sick before Christmas. I ended up with pneumonia, bronchitis and a sinus infection. Ralph had bronchitis. After a bunch of medication we started to feel better.
We watched movies New Year's Eve. Derek and family came over for New Year's Day brunch and to say our good byes to them before heading back to Arizona.
Rob and Genie invited us for New Year's Day ham dinner (one of several invitations). We cleaned and packed to head back to Arizona on Jan. 2nd. During our 15 days of being home in Calgary the weather was very good 7-9 Deg. C with no snow.
Thank you everyone for the love and support for our family during this difficult time.
Annika's pain and suffering is over which is a blessing, but we still miss her so much.
Please keep our family in your prayers and thoughts,as we all go through the healing process.
We wish you a healthy and happy 2012.
