Hemet,California to Calgary April 13th to 23rd
April 13th
After going to the resort's breakfast for French toast and fruit,it got cloudy and started to rain.
Ralph,Gary,Brian,and Howard went to Mega Liquor and bought all the liquor to take home.
I uploaded photos to the blog. We all went to the Diamond Valley Lake Museum and Science Center.
Very interesting. It rained heavy all day and evening. We went to shuffleboard in the evening..
April 14th --Happy Birthday Marie
Cold (57 Deg.F.),cloudy and rain showers. While our friends were packing up to leave, we relaxed.
The eight of us went out for Chinese Food and then back to our place for Tequila Rose shooters and
coconut cream pie. Thank you everyone for your good wishes.
April 15th
We said good by to the Howels, Regans, and Schinkels. We relaxed around the pools on a sunny 80 Deg.F. day. Don and Gerrie Beatch (Victoria) came over for a Happy Hour.
April 16th
Beautiful hot day 90 Deg. F. We went shopping at Target before going to the pool. I made a cherry cheesecake to take to the potluck Spud night. We played a fun game of shuffleboard after supper.
April 17th
Over 90 Deg.F. again today. I had a busy day : hair colored,cut & styled,pedicure,and nails filled. Ralph took me to Soboba Casino for supper and to play the slots. Won some and lost some but had fun.
April 18th
Happy Anniversary to the Howells. We did some shopping for cheese,butter(3 lbs for $6.60) and other items to take home. Dairy products are very cheap in the US. Warm 85 Deg.F. and went swimming.
April 19th
Another hot one over 90 Deg. F. We went to J.C. Penneys and then the pool. Don and Gerrie invited us for supper. The ribs from their smoker were delicious. We played shuffleboard after supper.The girls did not do well against the boys.
April 20th
We cleaned,did laundry and packed up on a extermely hot day. 100 Deg.F. We left our bikes at George's until next winter. We had lunch and listened to Michelle sing at the Palms Cabana. We gave some part bottles of alcohol and our plants to Don and Gerrie. We played our last game of shuffleboard with the group(Ralph's team won).
April 21st to April 23rd
Homeward bound at 7:30 am Saturday. It was 100 Deg.f. traveling through Las Vegas and 82 Deg.F. in Nephi, Utah at 7:30 pm when we stopped at the Flying J for the night.
It was another 11 hour driving day on Sunday as we traveled through Utah,Idaho, to Great Falls, Montana.
(still 84 Deg. F. at 7 pm)
Monday morning we were on our last leg for home (1 hour at the busy border crossing).
At 3 pm we were parking our 5 th wheel on our pad at home. 82 Deg. F. /26 Deg. C.-- a Calgary record for this time of year. A long 29 hour drive but the weather was fantastic and no driving problems.
After a shower and a quick supper we went to Derek and Carol's for dessert.There were lots of hugs and kisses with Liam and Emmett. We have missed them. It's good to be home!!

Hemet,San Diego and Temecula-- April 1st to 12th
April 1st
Fred and Bonnie left for Victoria B.C. this morning. Gary & Karen Howell and Brian & Shirley Regan arrived after lunch from Indio. They got RV sites near us. We invited the 4 of them and Albert and Linda for supper. The clam chowder,blueberry cheesecake and other food was enjoyed by all. Sunny 70 Deg. F.
April 2nd
Shirley,Karen and I enjoyed the afternoon by the swimming pool. The guys did some running around to Mega Liquor and other stores. Three of us girls went to a Mary Kay demonstration at 4 pm. We had a facial,massage, eye brows waxed and chicken caesar salad for supper.
The boys had a massage too. It was fun. We all played shuffleboard in the evening.
April 3rd
Albert and Linda left for Calgary today. We went shopping for Easter decorations and groceries at Winco. We went swimming before having happy hour at the Regans.
April 4th
The Regans,Howells, Ralph and I left just after 8 am for San Diego (1.5 hours). We toured the USS Midway--once the largest aircraft carrier in the world, built after World War 2 and active in Desert Storm and Vietnam. There was a ceremony honoring injured veterans with Dick Cheney(former USA vice president) speaking. Massive ship and quite impressive!! We took a 2 hour harbour cruise of San Diego. It is the second largest USA naval base with lots of ships. Warm 75 Deg. F. sunny day. We had tasty fish and chips at a harbour resturant. After an enjoyable day we arrived back home at 8 pm.
April 5th
Happy Birthday Brian.
We went for a bike ride around the resort. Warm day but got windy later on. The Regans had us and the Howells for a delicious supper. A few other friends joined us for birthday cake.
April 6th
We went to the resort's breakfast. We said good bye to Jack and Marlene from Leduc. We went to the Palms Cabana for chicken wings while doing laundry. The guys went shopping at some auto stores. We had good appetizers at a friends' happy hour before going to shuffleboard.
April 7th
Our neighbours from Washington left today (Larry and Sandy). There is a steady flow of snowbirds going home and alot of the 1020 spaces are empty. April,May, and June a number of travel groups come in. The resort had a Craft Bazaar and Car Show 9a.m.-1 p.m.. Extremely hot 88 Deg. F.
We went to the Hemet Street Market and had a good lunch downtown.
Howard and Janet Schinkel arrived. We went to a country fair in the evening. Not very good.
April 8th
Happy Easter
The Easter Bunny arrived with baskets of eggs. There are lots of rabbits in the park. The 8 of us went to the Mexican Market after having breakfast at IHOP. There were loads of people at the market on a very hot day 85 Deg. F. I made scallop potatoes for the resort Easter Dinner (the resort supplied the hams). A good meal and a good time was had by all.
April 9th
The Regans and Schinkels invited us for hot crossed buns and fruit for breakfast before going to Temecula. We browsed around Old Town and had lunch. We visited 3 wineries.It was enjoyable doing wine tasting in 90 Deg. F. temp with our friends the Howells and Regans.Supper was at a Winchester bar & grill.
April 10th
The Regans,Schinkels,Howells Ralph and I rented a pontoon boat for 2 hours at Diamond Valley Lake. We cruised around the 32 miles of lake. There were three floating bathrooms and lots of people fishing for wide mouth bass. It was warm but got windy around 2 pm when we got back.
We went for a swim at the resort pool afterwards. Shuffleboard in the evening.
April 11th
It rained heavy all night and most of the day. Cool 63 Deg. F. We went shopping at Walmart,Stater Brothers, the Dollar Store and Mega Liquor. On a cool day the roasted chicken I cooked tasted great.
April 12th
Cloudy with sunny periods today.Cool at times.The four guys went to breakfast and touring around.I stayed home (getting a cold) while the three girls went for coffee & donuts and shopping across the street. It is very convenient with Target and a bunch of other stores in the strip mall. I cleaned and did some laundry,rested and read.This evening Ralph and the guys went playing pool and watching a hockey game on the big screen at the resort.Time to do the blog and photos I hope.

March 21st
We said good bye to Ron and Marg. There were lots of people around the swimming pool today with tempatures around 80 Deg.F. We rode our bikes over to Jim and Audrey's for happy hour.
Karen and Dave from Leduc stopped by for a visit.
March 22nd
We picked up Les and Wanda (Oregon) and golfed 9 holes at Golden Era Golf Club.
It was very hot and we did not have a very good game. The golf pot luck supper was very good at 5 pm. We didn't win any prizes.
March 23rd
We drove over to Mega Liquor (best prices on alchol),got groceries at Stater Brothers,picked up my watch from the jewelers and got diesel ($4.579 US gal.) We visited with Jack and Marlene from Leduc. We met 5 years ago at GVP. We played shuffleboard in the evening.

March 24th
Foggy and cooler in the am but cleared off in the afternoon. We drove out to the Mexican Market
They have everything from nuts & bolts to canaries. Afterwards we drove to Diamond Valley Lake. The man made lake is Southern California's largest drinking water storage reservoir which was completed in 1999. That afternoon a Bass fishing tournament was taking place. We were to tired to go to the dance.
March 25th
We picked up Jim and Audrey for breakfast at IHOP. They leave for Calgary on the 27th.
We went shopping at Staples,the Dollar Store and Target. Later afternoon it got cold,windy and rainy.
March 26th
Our sweet angel,Annika's memorial 4th birthday. Sad day.It rained heavy all night until about noon. Cool and cloudy 63 Deg. F. We went out for lunch and browsed around Walmart.
March 27th
Happy 86th birthday Mom.
We went to the Chev dealer to order a bug deflector for the truck. We then went grocery shopping at the new Winco store. Very good with wide aisles. I made appetizers for the group dinner at Gary and Donna's (Medicine Hat)--pulled pork,salads,cake & more--14 people. Warm afternoon.
March 28th
We drove about 45 miles to the Desert Hills Premium Outlet Stores (130 stores) on the way to Palm Springs. We had lunch and spent about 4 hours shopping (some good bargains). We were invited to Jack and Marlene's for chili supper. Very tasty. We were entertained by Dale who sang and played guitar
March 29th
Albert and Linda from Calgary visited us in the morning. 70 Deg.F. We had a happy hour before going to Spud night in the ballroom. $2.00 for the potato and every one brings pot luck.
March 30th
We went to the resort's breakfast after saying goodbye to Gary and Donna. Laundry day again!
Warm 78 Deg.F. We picked up pizza and chicken wings at the Palms Cabana. It is only open on Friday and Saturdays now with entertainment. We played shuffleboard at 7 pm.
March 31st
Foggy and cool 60 Deg. F. We did some grocery shopping at Winco. We were invited to Jack and Marlene's again for dinner. We had home made cabbage rolls,turkey and all thetrimmings .Great cooks.10 people in all. Lois (Marlene`s sister) and Ron are leaving for Arizona tomorrow before heading to Calgary.
The resort is starting to empty out. Every day people are leaving to go back home.We have another couple of weeks here.Hopefully sunshine and warm weather!!
